Coastline College's designation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) has again been renewed by the National Security Agency (NSA). As the first community college in California to receive this prestigious recognition, Coastline has maintained the CAE-CD designation since 2014.
Coastline Professor Tobi West, PhD, leads a workshop during a GenCyber CyberTechGirls event hosted at Coastline College's Cyber Center.
Designated institutions are committed to providing rigorous cyber defense education to help students prepare for the cybersecurity workforce and secure our nation's infrastructure. CAE in Cyber Defense programs are recognized for excellence in cybersecurity curriculum, innovative approaches to community outreach, and continual improvement. The renewed designation will be in effect for the next five academic years through 2029.
“Our team is honored to receive the CAE-CD designation again. It is a testament of our commitment to building a quality cybersecurity program that students can depend on,” said Tobi West, professor and chair of the Technology Department at Coastline College. “This designation places Coastline amongst an elite group of institutions to have access to cybersecurity scholarships, grants for program development, and the authorization to use the official NSA and NCAE-C seals on its program materials and website.”
Coastline’s AS in Cybersecurity and extra-curricular activities provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to earn a living wage in today’s workforce. In addition to the CAE-CD designated program, Associate of Science in Cybersecurity, Coastline offers other technology degrees and certificates in Data Analytics, Data Science, Digital Forensics and Incident Response, and Information Technology.
