Coastline College’s Career Options through Academic Support and Training (COAST) Program has been selected to receive a 2025 Ability Transcends Challenges (ATC) Program Award. This prestigious recognition is presented annually by the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) in partnership with the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS). The award honors organizations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to advancing inclusion and highlighting the contributions of individuals with disabilities in the workplace.
The nomination for this honor came from the Los Angeles Dodgers, who, along with their athletic training and sports medicine staff, recognized the COAST Program for its impactful work in preparing students with intellectual and developmental disabilities for meaningful employment. This collaboration underscores the growing role of professional sports organizations in advocating for inclusivity and equal opportunities within their communities.
“We are proud that our college is being recognized nationally for the transformative opportunities COAST provides to students and their families,” said Rachelle Lopez, Program Counselor.
The COAST Program offers a diverse range of vocational training in fields such as Animal Care, Drama, Horticulture, Music, Art, Porter, Guest Services, and Culinary Arts. Through these programs, students gain practical skills and experience, empowering them to pursue fulfilling careers and contribute meaningfully to the workforce.
